Abstract

In Aristotle's view, justice is essential to building a just and virtuous society. Justice involves seeking balance in the distribution of goods and resources and the correction of injustices in society. The meanings of justice, described by Aristotle, can be related to Environmental Justice, a social movement that seeks to ensure equity in the distribution of negative environmental impacts on the most vulnerable communities. From this perspective, the present research aimed to analyze the contribution of the Aristotelian conception of justice to the construction of the understanding of environmental justice. The deductive method was used to prepare the paper, which sought to understand the contributions of the legal sciences, based on the study of works and interdisciplinary research. Finally, it was found that the concepts of justice, from Aristotle's point of view, help in the interpretation and the construction of the principles of Environmental Justice as a movement in favor of collective interests.
