Abstract

This work explores the importance of access for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder as a fundamental right guaranteed by the Federal Constitution and discusses the role of the Unified Health System (SUS) in promoting this right, especially with regard to multidisciplinary therapies. The methodology used was conducted through a bibliographic review, employing the analytical-deductive method. The judicialization of the right to health has become a significant phenomenon in Brazil, where the population with ASD turns to the Judiciary to ensure access to treatments and health services not provided by the State and/or private plans. This process, while a mechanism for guaranteeing rights, also exposes the issue between the need for limited resources and the universality of the right to health, as well as the development of public policies that can indeed ensure essential multidisciplinary therapies for people with ASD, not only for physical health but also for quality of life and social inclusion.
