Abstract

This study analyzes anthropological work in combating violence against indigenous women considering Bill (PL) 4381/2023, which deals with welcoming indigenous women who suffer violence. In the methodology, a literature review, electronic research and public domain documentary research were carried out. The article is divided into four moments: In the Introduction, the work of anthropology is discussed in the context of criminal justice and the activism of indigenous women in confronting gender-based violence. Next, the social movement of indigenous women is explored, through the Kuñangue Aty Guasu-Grand Assembly of Kaiowá and Guarani Women/MS, which has systematized and recorded information about the violence faced by Guarani and Kaiowá women in the Southern Cone, which has been contributed to the formulation of public policies for this group. In the third moment, a case study, the anthropological report on a spiritual leader, Guarani and Kaiowá, who received the urgent protective measure according to the Maria da Penha Law, and the provisions of PL 4381/2023, authored by the deputy, are analyzed. Célia Xakriabá, which establishes standards for the procedures that must be followed by competent bodies in supporting indigenous women who have suffered violence, especially in situations that require urgent protective measures. In the final considerations, the role of anthropology in the policy of assisting these women is emphasized, highlighting the relevance of the collaboration of indigenous people trained in anthropology, who bring valuable knowledge acquired at universities — theoretical-methodological tools — together with a multidisciplinary team, contributing significantly to the fight against violence directed at indigenous women.
