Abstract

Social security's role is to protect the economy in times of disability, unemployment, and old age, promoting social justice and reducing inequalities. However, there is a complexity in the INSS system that makes it vulnerable to fraud, compromising its financial integrity and public trust. The problem of this article is the urgent need to reinforce the control and governance mechanisms of the INSS, where accountability presents itself as an effective solution, presenting internal control mechanisms and an organizational culture preventing the occurrence of fraud and increasing confidence in the social security system. . The general objective of this research is to analyze how the implementation of accountability mechanisms can prevent INSS fraud. The methodology adopted is bibliographic and documentary, based on the review of theoretical references and relevant publications. The research aims to contribute to public policies that ensure a more responsible management of social security benefits, guaranteeing the fair and efficient use of resources destined for social protection.
