Abstract

Despite social evolution and economic and technological changes, Brazilian legal education remains disconnected from social reality, favoring an academic training that does not adequately prepare students to face the conflicts and demands of contemporary society. The excess of professionals in an already saturated market, combined with the lack of teacher training programs and deficient secondary education, contributes to the maintenance of this type of legal education. The research also highlights the need to reformulate teaching methods and the curriculum of law courses to promote a more humanistic, interdisciplinary, and critical education. The emphasis should be on developing critical thinking and preparing students to understand and act on social and political issues. It is essential to overcome formalism and the uncritical repetition of norms, promoting an education that encourages investigation, reflection, and innovation. It is imperative that legal education is also committed to ideals of social justice and the training of professionals who can contribute to building a more just and equitable society. To this end, it is necessary to break with traditional practices and adopt more critical and contextualized approaches, aligned with the needs and demands of contemporary society, to train professionals capable of promoting significant social change. The deductive method was used to conduct the investigation, allowing for the analysis of different scientific contributions to the practice of legal education and the search for innovative solutions for the training of law graduates.
